Nicaraguans are proud of this well-maintained site, where at least 9 former Presidents are buried.

The guide book says the Granada cemetery is noteworthy, and an object of local pride. So one morning we rode our bikes over there and started looking around. Pretty soon Cesar, one of the caretakers/guards joined us and offered explanations of the many impressive tombs and mausoleums. He noted the important families and showed us their sites. He pointed out a small section of the cemetery devoted to a few Muslim families. And of course we saw lots of graves of past Presidents of Nicaragua.
