Any time we are out and about in the city, we see street cleaners at work, night and day. This strenuous effort keeps the city amazingly clean. There seems to be even a shift of culture here: everywhere else in Latin America, people have no sense of guilt or shame about tossing trash in the street. Here it is very rare to see anyone purposely discard trash in the street. There is clearly pride in the Deparment of Aseo: the workers have bright orange uniforms and equipment. The equipment was recently renewed and the city saw fit to hold a big ceremony in the Santa Rosa park to celebrate.
