Huitepec Mountain

On Saturday, February 2, we got up early and set out for the Huitepec Nature Preserve, planning to meet our guide for a 7am bird walk. As it turned out, we got a bum steer in the market and got on the wrong minibus. We went to Huitepec the Mountain, not Huitepec the Preserve. And there, we kept asking people how to get to the preserve, and they kept saying go up to the top. So we climbed the mountain (there is a 4-wheel drive road all the way to the top). Of course when we got to the top, all that was there was Aztec TV and their towers. The preserve is on the other side of the mountain. We made the best of it, since it was a beautiful day. Had a great hike. Got home pretty tired. Huitepec is the tallest mountain in central Chiapas.
