This feathered wedding garment originated with
the Aztecs, not the Maya. The few women who specialize in making these huipils
in the village of Zinacantan are the only remaining producers of these amazing
articles. Each one takes many months to make. They are worn only for weddings,
and during the festival of San Sebastian in January.
