The inscription on the plaque behind the statue of Mujer Ch'ol (Ch'ol Woman) reads (in loose translation):

Ch'ol Woman
Indigenous woman, Ch'ol woman, carrying on your hip the rich history of the land of Pacal and Chan Bahlum, with your jade beads and with the folds of your attire you preserve the roads and paths trod by your feet, always bare, so that your children will never lack food or the spiritual sustenance of their ancestral culture.
