| Puerto Varas, Lago Llanquihue

Half an hour up the main highway from Puerto Montt is the charming German town of Puerto Varas, on the shores of Lago Llanquihue, the largest of the lakes in the Chilean lake district. Across the lake Volcán Osorno dominates the scene. Farther away, Volcán Calbuco and Mt. Tronador are also visible. Puerto Varas is also home to a beautiful church.
