This friendly fellow was selling artesania in the "Blue Museum". We asked him about the stone oven, and were enlightened when he explained at some length about the volcanic stone it is made from. It is quarried on the nearby peninsula of Lacuy, the only place it is found. They carve the stone to the desired shape while submerging it in water - that makes it easier to work. The same material is used to make the statues of the mythical creatures that are on view in the museum and in the town square.
