In Dalcahue, we stayed in a spare bedroom rented out by a pleasant family. Comfortable and very economical! We set out on the ferry from Dalcahue to Isla Quinchao on a foggy morning. The crossing took 4 or 5 minutes. Near the town of Curaco de Velez, at the western end of the little island, we stopped to enjoy a stack of fishnets practically filling the yard in front of a farmhouse. After visiting Achao, the biggest town on the island (population 3452), we returned to Isla Grande de Chiloe, and headed for Castro. But first we stopped to visit the colorful chapel at Llaullao. In Castro, we were delighted with the Iglesia de San Francisco, another Patrimonio de la Humanidad. We also enjoyed the "palafitos" - houses built on pilings.
