Villas Mombacho
Most mornings we ride our bikes along the lakeshore to the far end of the beach. One morning very early in our time here, we rode away from the beach on a road that eventually led to the port and marina at Asese, on the bay side of the Asese peninsula. The peninsula is surrounded by the hundreds of small islands (“isletas”) of Lake Cocibolca. Near the marina, we found a small rustic resort called “Villas Mombacho”. We enjoyed this relaxing and beautiful spot so much that we have returned to enjoy a cold drink on their terraces at least once a week during our time in Granada. From the terraces, on a clear day, we can see the islands of Zapatero and Ometepe, many miles away. We always get cheerful and friendly words from our regular waiter, Bernardo.
