Casa de la Cultura Dr. Ignacio Mena Rosales
Dr. Ignacio Mena Rosales. (1900–1980) was a beloved physician in Queretaro, who took care of poor people at no charge. Since he was a lover of culture, he willed his house, a few steps from the Plaza de Armas on Calle 5 de Mayo, to the city to house the Casa de la Cultura of the Centro Historico of Queretaro. In 1981, Elvira, Ignacio, and Gonzalo, the children of Dr. Ignacio Mena Rosales, completed his wish.
These photos show the Casa de la Cultura in excellent shape, and fully in use for music, dance, art, and theatre. The administration of the Casa de la Cultura graciously allow me to practice weekday mornings on one of the pianos; I arrive and leave early so that no activities of the center are disturbed.
