Good Friday Silent Procession
Semana Santa (Holy Week) concludes with Easter Sunday, but all over Catholic Latin America the popular highlight is Good Friday’s “Procesion de Silencio”. In Oaxaca, each church is represented by a holy figure carried by the faithful. Banners, on heavy standards, are part of the procession, as well as crosses carried by others. Unlike almost everything else in Mexico, the procession is actually mostly silent.
