Santa Rosa de Viterbo
The Templo of Santa Rosa de Viterbo, built in Churrigueresque style by Ignacio Mariano de las Casas by order of Don Jose Velazquez de Loera, was completed in 1752. The later neo-classical modifications by the famous Mexican architect Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras changed the altar, but the barroque retablos and the flying buttresses remain original and unique. With its pink dome, Santa Rosa is a famous and fitting landmark for Querétaro. The only church in the city with a comparably impressive interior is Santa Clara. The adjoining ex-convent of Santa Rosa awaits rehabilitation.
