Our excellent friends Manuel and Alejandra from Toluca invited us to spend the weekend of January 18-20 with them. As we did last year, we took a bus from Queretaro to Atlacomulco where Manuel and Alejandra and their daughter Perla met us. Our destination for the morning was the Villa de Carbon, an (officially!) “Charming Town” in the State of Mexico. The whole area is very charming, heavily forested and full of streams and lakes. We stopped by San Bartolo de Morelos, nearby, where Manuel and Alejandra own a piece of property where they may build a vacation home. Villa de Carbon is known for its leather crafts; Lois bought a very nice pair of shoes made there. We made our way in the afternoon to the Presa del Llano where we ate delicious gorditas and then took a walk around the lake.
