From Cuitzéo we headed 30km north into Guanajuato to Yuriria. There we visited the enormous ex-Convento San Agustin de Yuriria, also founded by Augustinians and built between 1550 and 1559. Manuel and Alejandra had tried to get into this place in the past with no luck so we were all happy to gain access. Very large and impressive construction, plateresque style, reminiscent of the Santo Domingo ex-convento in Oaxaca, now the Museo Regional there. Lois loved the Moorish perforated metal plates covering some internal windows. After our tour of the convent and church, we found a restaurant nearby called Las Juanita's. We all had the specialty there, fish stew. Then we drove to Chamácuaro.
