As we climbed back up toward Yumani, we passed through intensely farmed slopes and had some great views of the Pukhara Bay. Coming into Yumani, we came upon a carnival celebration at a local residence, where Abraham knew the people. So of course we had to stop and have a drink, saluting Pachamama (Mother Earth). The kids enjoyed our visit. Arriving back at our hostel, we were greeted with a lovely rainbow. The next morning, we went down the famous Inca Stairs to the landing at Yumani where the “Fountain of Youth” feeds the stream alongside the stairs. Islanders bring their water jugs here on burros to fill at the fountain. Docked at the landing was a large totora (reed) boat. We left on a launch for Copacabana, inspired by the wonders of Isla del Sol.
